This year marks 20 years since Millan and his wife, Reena, first became part of Caloundra Shopping Centre — two decades of serving locals, sharing stories and getting to know generations of customers.

Their journey began at their original TSG store opposite Kmart. Today, you'll find them near The Coffee Club, operating as Caloundra Gifts & News, an independent newsagency and gift store.

Originally from Fiji, Millan and his family spent 17 years in New Zealand before settling in Caloundra. Millan and Reena have two daughters, one an optometrist and the other an occupational therapist.

Although the name and location have changed, Millan's connection to the local community remains at the heart of the business.

More Than a Familiar Face

Ask Millan what he loves most about being part of the Caloundra community and it's the people who immediately come to mind.

Many of his regular customers have been visiting for years. He knows them by name, and they know him. Some pop in almost every day, sharing stories about their families, their lives and the milestones worth celebrating.

One particularly memorable moment came when a regular Lotto customer, who had previously only won around $10 here and there, celebrated a $12,000 win.

For Millan, being able to share in those exciting moments is one of the most rewarding parts of running a local business.

Outside the store, Millan and Reena enjoy catching up with friends over dinner and making the most of Caloundra's coastal lifestyle.

Bulcock Beach is one of their favourite places to unwind, although the recent transition to an independent newsagency has kept them especially busy.

Millan also enjoys a round of golf at Caloundra Golf Club, though he jokes he's a little rusty these days!
